JOB SUMMARYThis position performs technical duties in the maintenance of agency buildings, equipment and grounds.MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSReviews and maintains the maintenance log daily; documents and signs-off on completed tasks.Performs inspections of Children's Center structures to identify safety hazards and repair needs.Repairs internal and external structures and equipment.Secures quotes from contractors for maintenance repairs; inspects contractor work to ensure compliance with codes; schedules contractor in support of operational commitments.Performs floor maintenance for all sites.Patches walls and ceiling tiles; paints interior and exterior surfaces.Repairs furniture.Moves and sets-up furniture and equipment.Maintains HVAC equipment; changes filters.Performs related duties.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge of building maintenance principles.Knowledge of Children's Center policies and procedures.Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance principles.Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.Skill in problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations.Skill in oral and written communication.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of related technical maintenance duties. The variety of tasks to be performed and the need to perform work in the presence of staff, visitors, and children contributes to the complexity of the work.The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of center buildings and equipment. Successful performance contributes to safe, attractive and well-maintained facilities.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts objects lifts light and heavy objects. The employee climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAbility to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment used.Ability to lift 75 pounds.
