Suffolk Head Start Center
This is an on-call position. This person will work as a substitute for the cooking team or custodial team when a staff member is unable to report to work. This position supports all our Centers.
Assist in the preparation of a nutritional lunch and 2 snacks each day. Inventory groceries/supplies and report need to the Cook. Clean kitchen daily. Take out kitchen trash after lunch daily and other times as needed. Wash and sterilize all dishes and utensils according to proper sanitation procedures.Check menu and make appropriate preparations for next day’s meals/snacks.Check drink supplies and keep appropriate amounts on hand. Assure sanitary procedures in kitchen hand washing. Receive food shipments and report any problems with items received to the Cook.
Performs custodial duties at the Center to ensure the building is properly cleaned and sanitized.
Must be 18 years of age. Must have high school diploma or GED Equivalent. Must have a current Virginia Driver’s license. Must demonstrate good communication skills. Must hold a current Food Handlers card. Must be familiar with USDA regulations. Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic principals of good nutrition. Must attend required pre-service and in-service training. Must meet all physical, mental, moral and other requirements as set forth by Federal and State Regulations. Must be familiar with all background of children we serve. Must have current CPR and First Aid Certification. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
