Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the coordination of client services. 

MAJOR DUTIES
  • Receives and processes referrals; contacts parents/guardians to discuss needs and services and to provide information
  • participates in the determination of eligibility
  • Participates in the development of Individual Family Service Plans
  • Participates in transition planning
  • Ensures compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Refers clients to appropriate service providers
  • Attends required training
  • Completes progress notes, charts and required reports
  • Investigates and resolves problems related to services provided to families
  • Performs related duties

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of Early Intervention Program policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of disabilities services principles
  • Knowledge of needs assessment strategies
  • Knowledge of infant and toddler development
  • Knowledge of agency policies and procedures
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Early Intervention Manager assigns work in terms of very general instructions.  The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature of propriety of the final results. 

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia Practice Manual and Children's Center policies and procedures.  These guidelines require judgement, selection, and interpretation in application. 

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of varied administrative and technical duties.  The unique nature of each families needs contributes to the complexity of the position.  
  • The purpose of this position is to coordinate client services.  Success in this position results in the efficient and effective provision of services to families. 

CONTACTS

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other agency personnel, therapists, school system personnel, physicians, attorneys, representatives of community agencies, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.  The employee occasionally lifts light objects.

    • The work is typically performed in an office.  The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, contagious or infectious disease.
    • This position is classified as Light work for physical exertion requirements.  Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  If someone can do light work, we determine tha he or she can also do sedentary work.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having ha a similar position for one to two years
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment used
