Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY

This position performs technical duties in the maintenance of agency buildings, equipment and grounds.

MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reviews and maintains the maintenance log daily; documents and signs-off on completed tasks.
Performs inspections of Children's Center structures to identify safety hazards and repair needs.
Repairs internal and external structures and equipment.
Secures quotes from contractors for maintenance repairs; inspects contractor work to ensure compliance with codes; schedules contractor in support of operational commitments.
Performs floor maintenance for all sites.
Patches walls and ceiling tiles; paints interior and exterior surfaces.
Repairs furniture.
Moves and sets-up furniture and equipment.
Maintains HVAC equipment; changes filters.
Performs related duties.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The work consists of related technical maintenance duties. The variety of tasks to be performed and the need to perform work in the presence of staff, visitors, and children contributes to the complexity of the work.
The purpose of this position is to participate in the maintenance of center buildings and equipment. Successful performance contributes to safe, attractive and well-maintained facilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts objects lifts light and heavy objects. The employee climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment used.
Ability to lift 75 pounds.


Job Qualifications:
Must have High School Diploma. Must obtain CPR/First Aid. Must have access to a car and hold a valid Drivers License. Must be able to lift 75pounds. Must have a basic knowledge of common household repairs. Must be reliable and be able to adhere to required standards of safety. Must demonstrate familiarity with ethnic background of clients and be able to serve and effectively communicate with children, families, co-workers, and the public. Must demonstrate maturity and high level of energy. Must be able to perform basic computer applications such as utilizing Time Clock software. Must be able to communicate through company email using Outlook.
